LAKHIMPUR: The State president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ranjeet Kumar Dass blew the poll bugle in Lakhimpur claiming that the BJP and its allied parties would constitute the government once again at Dispur in 2021 by achieving absolute majority in the ensuing assembly election. He further added that the next assembly election would be a challenge-less election for the BJP.
The State BJP president expressed this confidence in the ruling party and its prospect of forming the government for the second time in the State while taking part in an organizational meeting held in the Lakhimpur District Library auditorium on Wednesday.
"Our BJP-led government has brought drastic change to the State by accelerating development activities in the last four-and-half years as per our poll promises. So, the next assembly election will be a challenge-less election for the party. Only development will be BJP's issue in the challenge-less assembly election. In next five years, we will do the works which we could not do in the past years," Ranjeet Kumar Dass stated.
Notably, the meeting was organized by the Lakhimpur district unit of BJP in order to chalk out strategies to ensure the victory of the party candidates to be contesting in the assembly election from the four constituencies under the district. The meeting commenced with district unit BJP president Phanidhar Baruah in the chair.
In connection with his speech in the meeting, Ranjeet Kumar Dass further asserted that the BJP-led State Government had ensured two kinds of changes in the State with unprecedented development activities as per the party's poll promises of securing jati (the nation), mati (the land) and bheti (the foundation).
"Our government accorded land pattas to one lakh landless people of the State to secure the land. This government will accord land pattas to one lakh more landless people by January. The successive Congress-led governments could not do this year after year which our government did in only four-and-half year period. Rather, the party sponsored cheap politics opposing the land policy adapted by the State Government when it was tabulated in the assembly. The BJP government is determined and committed to accord land pattas to the indigenous people of the State who voted the party to power," Ranjeet Kumar Dass added.
He stated the State Government had initiated unique moves to secure the jati by securing the Assamese language and culture. "For this purpose, the government has made Assamese a compulsory subject in the English medium schools from Class I to Class X like the vernacular medium schools to secure the language. For cultural and literary enhancement, corpus funds have been granted to the namghars, xatras and the community literary bodies (Xahitya Xabhas) of the State. Similarly, the State Government has allotted fund for the construction of residential houses to seven lakh beneficiaries of the State under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana to secure the bheti. In the meantime, the construction of 3,50,000 such houses has been completed," Dass added.
In his speech, the State BJP president highlighted the developmental activities and schemes implemented by the education, rural development, agriculture, social welfare, PWD departments under the State Government in the past four-and-half years compared to that implemented by Congress governments. He remarked that the construction of 19,000 km road along with thousands of RCC bridges, establishment of eight medical colleges, total electrification, implementation of several women-centric schemes for women empowerment in the State were the major achievements of the State BJP government.
He affirmed that the BJP alliance would achieve victory in more than 100 seats in the assembly election. Expressing reaction over the campaigning conducted by a number of ticket aspirants in the district, he suggested the party activists to 'work for the victory of the party, not the ticket aspirants'.
Attending the event, State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley, State BJP general secretary Phanindra Nath Sarmah, Bihpuriya MLA Debananda Hazarika and Gohpur MLA Utpal Borah also delivered speech encouraging the party members. In the same event, over 100 members from Congress, Sanmilita Gana Shakti and former activists of All Assam Students' Union joined the BJP.
