JAGIROAD: As per the directions of the Chief Minister, the Morigaon district administration on Wednesday night conducted a massive operation in the district to prevent possible accidents caused by driving under the influence of illegally sold liquor in some dhabas along the National Highway and other busy roads. After sealing two dhabas and a shop in Mayong revenue circle area, the Morigaon district administration sealed Changhar Dhaba on NH-37 in Jagiroad. The raid was conducted by the team led by Additional District Commissioner Pranjal Barua following a tip-off.

Sources said that police personnel and district administration officials entered the dhaba like ordinary people and detected the sale of liquor being supplied to customers without a license. The district commissioner Devashish Sharma has already urged all dhaba owners in the district to refrain from selling liquor without a license and illegally. Otherwise, strict legal action will be taken against such dhabas.

In a message, he said the raids were conducted on NH-37 passing through the district and some dhabas in the Mayong area since Wednesday. Many people have died while driving under the influence of alcohol in these dhabas. The district commissioner has already made it clear that the Morigaon district administration will not compromise on such actions under any circumstances. He also warned that such operations will continue from now on.
