SARUPATHAR: Agitated over the deplorable condition of the Uriamghat to Sarupathar-Ekorani-via-Premhora to Barpathar connecting to roads in Golaghat district, the Dhansiri Subdivision Doyang Dumper Owners' Association has taken initial steps to repair the roads with their own money. The members of the Dhansiri Subdivision Doyang Dumper Owners' Association, "We have borne the expenses of 350 dumpers of sand-gravel and constructed the 20-km long route at an estimated cost of Rs 30 lakh to Rs 35 lakh. They said that about 400 dumpers carry boulders (stone) from the Dayang River daily and the Assam Government got revenue of Rs 40 lakh to Rs 45 lakh per month from the border area of Assam-Nagaland. The association also slammed the Public Works Department (PWD) authorities and local MLA Roselina Trikey for their 'failure' to repair the roads.

"Despite manifold problems being faced by us and locals, there has been no action by the district administration and PWD authorities to repair and improve the condition of roads," the dumper owners lamented. They added, "The condition worsens during the rainy season when the potholes get filled up with water."
