Dhemaji AASU appeals to people to remain alert about COVID-19

LAKHIMPUR: The Dhemaji district unit of all Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has appealed to the people to remain alert about the COVID-19 pandemic in view of the growing rate of COVID-19 patients across the nation and the process of bringing the people of the district from other States back to the district. Through a press release, the organization asserted that the increased rate of COVID-19 patients was an alarming threat to the human civilization. Under such circumstances, according to the organization, the people of Dhemaji district were not safe from the pandemic contagion, though no COVID-19 patients have been detected in the district.

Notably, the process of bringing the district people stranded in other States back to the district is underway at present. The State Government and the district administration have suggested that the people coming from other States should stay under home quarantine. In this regard, Dhemaji district AASU president Dipak Sarmah and general secretary Kalyan Gogoi, through the press release, called upon the district people to report the matter immediately to the nearest health centre or district administration or police if anyone suggested for home quarantine was seen roaming here and there by violating the rules and regulations set in order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. They have further appealed to the district people to remain isolated at home except for emergency condition and to use face masks, maintain social distancing and ensure hand sanitization while going out.

Through the same press release, the dignitaries of the organization have lauded the role of all medical employees like doctors, nurses, ASHA workers, multipurpose workers along with journalists and police personnel in fighting against the pandemic. They have further demanded the district administration and the State Government to ensure the health security of these frontline fighters.
