SILCHAR: Harina primary health centre under Dholai constituency of Cachar has been awarded the best primary health centre in Assam by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Doctors, health care workers and nursing staff came in for high praise by the Union Minister of Health, Harsh Vardhan. At this great event, primary health centres and subsidiary health centres were also awarded certificates and citations by the ministry. This felicitation event took place through virtual platform by Dr Harsh Vardhan.

Principal Secretary, department of health of Assam and managing director MHM Dr S Lakhsmanan, received the awards on behalf of the government of Assam on last Saturday on the occasion of Universal Health Coverage day. Quite significant, DrMohhamedEijaz Ahmed Laskar of the PHC got the best doctor award. Asha workers associated with the hospital and other health care workers were awarded under different categories.

Minister of forest, environment and fisheries, ParimalSuklabaidya, expressed his happiness at the best performance and achievement of Harina primary health centre of being the best of all the PHCs of the country. This has been possible due to the sincerity, hard work and dedication of all the staff of all levels. It is no mean achievement to be competitive at the national level to get such recognition and honour. The Minister has enough reason to rejoice as this PHC comes in his constituency. The minister has assured necessary help and cooperation to keep afloat the fair name of the PHC.

Sharing his reactions, Dr S Lakhsmanan congratulated the team members of Harina PHC for setting an exemplary example and making the state proud. He called upon the doctors and staff in general to work with the zeal and enthusiasm to earn many more laurels in the days to come. Keerthi Jalli Deputy Commissioner of Cachar was all praise for Harina PHC staff of all levels for the great and grand achievement. Dr Mohammed Eijaz Ahmed, the team leader, said 11 sub centres under Harina PHC provide all kinds of basic treatments and critical patients are shifted to SMCH, besides generating awareness among the people in the areas about common diseases for preventive measures.

More happy and proud are ANMs, Ayesha Begum, Poduna Begum and Kalyani Das among the nursing staff who got awards as best ANMs in the state. Lab technician RafiqueUddin also got recognition for his contribution. Asha supervisor, BharatiSarkar, workers, Jiturani Das, Amina Begum, Chinubala Das, Rabiya Begum, SofatunNessa and helper SishuRanjanNath also got recognition.
