DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi College (DHSKC) is conducting a cleanliness programme in association with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change and Assam Science Technology and Environment Council.

The programme is being conducted in the middle of the Dibrugarh city covering Chowkidinghee, Naliapool, Borboruah, nearby areas of TV Centre, daily bazars under the over bridge and in a number of places in the district from February 21. The Swachh Bharat Mission, Assam (Namaste) State brand ambassador and the Principal of DHS Kanoi College, Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, joint coordinator of the Environment cell of the college, Dr Alakananda Baruah, Dr Ranjan Changmai, Dinalisha Bora and the students of the college took part in the cleanliness programme.

The teachers and the students, with the guidance of Principal Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, approached the daily market and delivered information and knowledge on environmental issues and suggested cleanliness of the surrounding. The team approached everyone individually and explained the importance of keeping the environment clean and also distributed a pamphlet in this regard. The pamphlet was distributed among almost 5,000 buyers and sellers.

Kanoi College is recognized as one of the cleanest colleges of India and the institution has also received felicitation from a number of associations, organizations and individuals in this connection. The Environment cell is taking up a cleanliness programme starting from within the four walls of the college to different corners of the district. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Assam Science Technology and Environment Council are supporting this noble deed of the college.
