DHSK College steps out to offer voluntary service to the old and ailing

DIBRUGARH: The Altruist is a group formed by the UG and PG students of Department of English, DHSK college, Dibrugarh under the guidance of Dr Trishna Duarah. The aims and objectives of the group will be to identify some old and ailing people living alone and to offer voluntary service to them on daily basis. The group will be non-political and non-profitable student centric organisation with the core group of Faculty of DHSK college, doctors, legal advisors and police personal. The meeting of the group was convened on April 28 at the principal conference room.

The meeting was presided by the Principal of DHSK college , Dr Sashi Kanta Saikia, in the presence of the president of the governing body Abhimanyu Baruah, vice principal Dr. Priya Dev Goswami, Prof Dr.Jyoti Prasad Phukan, Assistant Co-ordinator Dr. Dipankaj Gogoi, Dr Navanita Burman from Assam Medical College along with the PG and UG students and discussed about various important issues in relation to the task undertaken as a part of social responsibility of the young generation.

The purpose of the meeting is to adopt certain policies and to formulate the plan of action. Decision has been taken that the group will begin their work at the earliest after the formulation of a legal agreement. It is a great responsibility and the group is first of its kind in Upper Assam. They set an example by creating awareness among the young generation about their responsibilities towards the society and the older generation.

Principal of DHSK College Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia expressed great appreciation towards this group and ensured that he is proud to be a part of such a group. GB president Abhimanyu Baruah ensured his help and support in this enterprising step.
