DHUBRI: Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani is one among the 50 District Magistrates out of 724 across the country selected by Fame India magazine as the best performing District Magistrate recently.
A joint survey was carried out by Fame India magazine and Asia Post on the basis of 10 parameters of performance, including governance, foresightedness, accountability, decision, immediate action, seriousness and behavioural attitude. Further, as District Magistrate how he brought changes and transformed the district in the field of nature and environment, agriculture, roads, generation of energy, financial development and human resource development.
Anant Lal Gyani joined as Dhubri Deputy Commissioner in November, 2017 and jumped into action to bring tangible changes in all aspects of socio-economic cultural development. Soon Dhubri district started marching forward with various development projects and programmes. Dhubri, being one of the 117 inspirational districts in the country, achieved a rare distinction by topping among the seven districts in Assam in the field of financial inclusion and skill development in February this year.
There is a long list of development activities in this aspirational district and apart from government's planned projects and programmes, he launched many programmes in the fields of health, education and skill development which are slowly but gradually bringing a sea change in the district.
Some major projects include 100 MW Mega Solar Power Plant by APDCL at Khudigaon Part II in Bilasipara Subdivision of Dhubri district, Ekalavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Tilapara (Bilasipara Subdivision), Gokul Goan Mission, Modern Handball Stadium, International Hat at Sonahat, Nectar initiative to develop micro, small and medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to introduce plasma technology in order to add value to the products, a long-pending demand of people of this part was fulfilled with opening of Immigration Check Point at Dhubri International River Port last year, installation of Netai Dhubini statue on the bank of River Brahmaputra (a deep belief in folk tale about Netai Dhubini).
Abhudaya, Aamar Bidyalay Amar Abhiman and Virtual Field Support (VFS) to teachers and students and many other innovative ideas were implemented and still being implemented to pull this district from the stigma of backward district. Gyani, a relentless fighter, who after joining Dhubri as Deputy Commissioner, was entrusted with preparation of fair NRC, encountered devastating flood in 2019, agitation against CAA and now COVID-19.
