DHUBRI: Newly-elected president of Dhubri district unit BJP, Dr. Debamoy Sanyal assured the people of Dhubri district within his jurisdiction that all-round development would be ushered as plans and projects were being prepared for early execution.
Dr. Sanyal said this while addressing local media persons at the party office in presence of a host of party office bearers on Sunday. Media persons put forward many suggestions to give a facelift to Dhubri town and elsewhere in the district, including cleanliness of Dhubri town, construction of roads, culverts, construction of proper markets, and widening of roads at certain points.
Replying to suggestions, Dr. Sanyal informed that Dhubri Municipal Board (DMB) would soon launch door-to-door garbage collection while some roads and outlets had already been sanctioned by government and work would start within a couple of weeks.
“Besides these, three multi-story markets – New Market, Bou Bazar, and Adarsha Market - have been included under the Rs 100 crore City Infrastructure Development Fund (CIDF) for which Detail Project Report (DPR) is being prepared and expected work could be started by end of March this year,” Dr. Sanyal further said.
When media persons drew his attention towards the construction of a road at Bot Tola where after the railway level crossing, the road being constructed was narrow, Dr. Sanyal assured to take up the matter at the appropriate level and assured that the road would be widened as this road led to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital.
Media persons also drew attention to Wimco (Western India Match Factory) which was closed in 1996 and is now owned by the ITC group. They urged upon him to convince the group to set up industries feasible and viable here from a profit-making marketing point of view.
Dr. Sanyal in his interaction with media persons also informed that amenities of the Dhubri District Library Auditorium would be improved, a new air-conditioned auditorium in BN College would be constructed while multi-story parking near Dhubri Zila Parishad was being planned.
