DHUBRI: Dhubri will soon have a separate lab for COVID-19 (RT-PCR) test. The Assam Health Department has approved a separate lab for COVID-19 (RT-PCR) test and this was communicated to Dhubri district administration.

In its communication, Assam Health Department proposed a separate building for opening a full-fledged RTPCR testing centre here at Dhubri, a high official of Dhubri district administration informed.

When contacted, Dhubri district BJP president Dr. Debamoy Sanyal said that during a meeting with Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Anbamuthan MP, he informed about the government's desire to have a separate RTPCR test lab at Dhubri. "The Dhubri DC is looking for a government building with uninterrupted power supply. Here we suggested the Deputy Commissioner to clear few rooms in the buildings of Dhubri Civil Hospital as this is one of the two government establishments having uninterrupted (dedicated) power supply," Dr Sanyal added.

Dr. Sanyal also informed that as of now, samples collected are sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital and they have to wait for 4-5 days for the report to come.

Meanwhile, the Dhubri Deputy Commissioner visited Dhubri Civil Hospital and other health centres of Dhubri district and instructed the authorities to prepare 10 more beds with all facilities for COVID-19 patients.

In the district, total 121 people tested positive on Saturday. The total positive cases till date is 3,592 out of which 2,058 have been discharged while the number of active cases is 1,494. The death toll is 39, including two on Friday.
