Dibrugarh Airport gets approval for runway restoration from Director General of Civil Aviation

DIBRUGARH: The Dibrugarh Airport located at Mohanbari has got the approval from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for restoration of runway 05 threshold.

The threshold was earlier displaced by 150 metres to facilitate completion of runway merging, which had also led to withdrawal of ILS facility. Now the merger of extended runway has been completed and with this restoration now, the pre-existing runway length of 1830 metres will be made available again and the ILS facility can be operationalized.

AAI is providing new and upgraded ILS facility corresponding to 2290 metre runway length, for which most of the infrastructural works have been completed. Installation, testing, optimization and commissioning of the same is expected to be completed by March 2024, after which the extended runway length of 2290 metres can be operationalized along with new ILS and category I approach lighting system.

The Airport Authority of India, Dibrugarh, after a meeting with the stakeholders, has decided to achieve changeover for restoration of runway 05 in the intervening night between Monday (September 4) and Tuesday (September 5).
