Dibrugarh DC Pallav Gopal Jha declares lockdown on Saturday & Sunday in 4 towns

DIBRUGARH: District Magistrate Pallav Gopal Jha, by an order issued on Friday has declared lockdown in the municipal areas of Dibrugarh, Chabua, Namrup and Naharkotiya on every Saturday and Sunday under section 144 of Cr.P.C.

In another order District Magistrate has promulgated curfew from 7 pm to 7am which will continue until next order issued.

However, essential services like health, police, district administration, people engaged in flood protection work, fire fighting, telecom, railway, electricity, petrol pump are exempted from the purview of lockdown and curfew period.

Violation of such orders by any individual will be punished under Sec.188 of IPC and Sec.51 to 60 under Disaster Management Act.
