Dibrugarh DC Pallav Gopal Jha orders strict action against illegal coal mining

Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha directed forest department officials on Monday to take strict action against illegal mining of coal in the district. He also directed the officials concerned to take stringent measures against illegal mining of coal, if any, in and around the heritage sites in the district.

DC Pallav Gopal Jha directed forest officials to check the illegal trade of sand, silt, stone chips and wood. The directions came at a meeting in Joypur where he also asked the forest officials to keep strict vigil and work in sync with the police administration to stop all kinds of illegal trade of forest resources. He further asked forest department officials to maintain zero-tolerance attitude toward any violation of forest rules and to remain committed for strict enforcement of forest rules and stop lawbreakers.

The meeting was also attended by Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Gautam Bora, Additional DCs, Susanta Kumar Dutta and Partha Pratim Bairagi; Naharkatia and Tengakhat Circle Officers, Bikram Chetri and Ashutosh Deka and forest officials of Dibrugarh and Digboi forest division.
