DIBRUGARH: The district administration of Dibrugarh will soon take legal action against illegal car parking in the region. Disclosing this to the mediapersons during an interactive session held at Circuit house on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha stated to close all the illegal parkings which have been continuing in Dibrugarh, despite Gauhati High Court’s ruling against such illegal parking spots. DC Jha also said that he would initiate an enquiry on it. Highlighting the need of well-planned parking place in the town, the DC disclosed that steps are in process to construct planned parking place near Dibrugarh Police Reserve.
Jha said that the earlier resolution of District Administration to construct such parking place near Old Railway Station is no longer feasible because of delay in getting clearance from the Railways. He added that the administration has no other option except to go ahead with the project at the vicinity of police reserve.
He further informed that he would institute an enquiry on all alleged irregularities that happened in construction of drainage systems in the town. Referring to the construction of illegal huts and sheds along the Brahmaputra dykes, he asked deputy ADC Ranjit Konwar to issue a notice to all the offenders, who had built their huts and kiosks by encroaching the land at the riverbank. Speaking further, he congratulated the people of Dibrugarh for their support and cooperation in making Dibrugarh free from single-use plastic and called upon them to go ahead on their mission to make Dibrugarh free from plastic.
