Dibrugarh Inter Church Forum (DICF) organized special prayer meet for peace in Manipur

DIBRUGARH: Following the recent outbreak of violence between the Kuki tribes and the Meitei community in Manipur, members of the Dibrugarh Inter Church Forum (DICF) organized a special prayer meeting for peace on Sunday evening. Attendees from different churches and other groups came together to offer prayers for peace and strongly appealed to all to come together and contain the ongoing conflict in the State.

The well-attended programme, chaired by Dr. L. Doungel, included hymns, prayers, and exhortation on the need to maintain peace and harmony, as well as support for homeless and helpless bereaved families. All speakers emphasized the need for unity and urged everyone to refrain from politicizing the issue.

Rev. Sanjay pronounced the invocation prayer and prayed for immediate restoration of peace and harmony seeking divine blessings to give the leaders across the nation wisdom and understanding to effectively and efficiently govern the nation and state of Manipur in particular.

Speaking about the need for unity in the nation, Denis Bird, the president of DICF said, “Let us remember that we are all part of a great nation founded on the principles of love, peace, and coexistence.” Rev. Nag expressed condolences for the victims and called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The DICF appealed to the government to ensure the safe evacuation of all stranded people from other states, including those from Assam, and provide essential supplies like food and safe drinking water to those in camps during this crisis. They also urged all communities and denominations to come together and work towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Manipur.
