DIBRUGARH: The Jalannagar Sarbajani Sri Sri Durga Puja committee, Dibrugarh has stepped into its 61st year and it will be showcasing tribal lifestyle this year.

Last year, due to Covid-19 restrictions they could not hold the puja in a big way. Since, 1961 the Jalannagar Sarbajani Sri Sri Durga Puja committee has been organizing Durga Puja.

Talking to The Sentinel, Partha Bhattacharjee, convener of the puja committee, said, "This year our theme is based on 'Tribal park festival'. We will showcase tribal lifestyle and how they live in the villages. Their way of life and how they live with nature will be highlighted during the four-day festival."

"This year, we are happy that we can organize the festival without any restrictions. Our pandal will be made with eco-friendly materials and we have hired artisans from Kolkata who are busy in the pandal decorations. We hope that people will come and enjoy our theme during the festival," Bhattacharjee added. He further added, "The tribal people are associated with agriculture and the pandal has highlighted their lifestyle and culture."

Santu Mahapatra, who has come over from Kolkata to make the pandal, is busy with his workers in giving the finishing touch. "Most of the work of the pandal has been completed and within two days, the whole pandal decorations will be completed. Last two years, we had no work due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are hopeful that people will love our theme and our artistic work," Mahapatra said.
