GUWAHATI: Police have arrested a man on the charges of abusing and molesting a woman in a bank in Dibrugarh recently. A video of the incident went viral on social media after which the matter came to light.
In the video, the man identified as Ritu Raj Gogoi who is in a pink T-shirt can be seen pressing his lower body on the back of a woman while standing in a queue in the State Bank of India (SBI) Thana Chariali branch, Dibrugarh. The incident happened on September 13. The video surfaced on social media soon and got attention from a huge number of users who vented their ire and demanded punishment to the man.
The man Ritu Raj, who was about to flee from Sivasagar in a night super, was arrested by police from Sivasagar bus stand. A team of cops based on a tip-off reached the bus stand and nabbed Ritu. He is now under the custody of Dibrugarh police and further investigation is underway.

It may be mentioned that a 63-year-old man was arrested by police last month for allegedly molesting his student at Rongpur in south Assam's Silchar. A first information report was lodged by the girl's mother with Rongpur police patrol post in connection with the incident. She told the police that the man, who used to teach music to her nine-year-old daughter, molested her in his house after she went for her music classes. The man had also threatened the kid against informing about the matter to anyone.
