Dibrugarh University celebrated National Science Day 2020

Dibrugarh: The Department of Chemistry, Dibrugarh University, celebrated National Science Day 2020 with the theme “Women in Science” in the Indira Miri Conference Hall here on Friday. The Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Dibrugarh University, Prof BR Sharma inaugurated the program. The gathering, including school children, teachers, research scholars, and faculty members were fascinated by a thoughtful Science Day lecture entitled “Origin of Elements: On the contribution of two woman astronomers” delivered by Dr. Sanjeev Kalita of Gauhati University.

Later, a quiz competition was organized among the school students at the secondary level (from class VIII to X). Teams from Salt Brook School Dibrugarh, St. Xavier’s School Dibrugarh and BL Beria Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Dibrugarh secured the first, second and third positions, respectively. The awards were sponsored by the senior scientist of NCL, Pune, Prof Anil Kumar. The day-long program ended with a vote of thanks from the Coordinator Dr. Rahul Kar.
