Dibrugarh University student jumps from hostel building

DIBRUGARH: A student of Dibrugarh University, residing at PNGB Hostel, has become a victim of alleged ragging by seniors in the hostel.

The student has been identified as Anand Sharma, a resident of Amguri. According to reports, the victim jumped from the two-storeyed hostel building to rescue himself. The incident took place in the hostel on Saturday night.

Critically injured Anand was admitted in the ICU at Aditya Hospital, Dibrugarh. His family members will lodge FIR. "We are enquiring the matter and are going to take strict action against the culprits," said Dr Jiten Hazarika, Vice Chancellor, Dibrugarh University. Earlier, many incidents of ragging have been reported from Dibrugarh University.
