DIGBOI: A team of Digboi police on Friday morning swung into action and checked the CCTV footage secured from the Digboi Bogapani based CBSE affiliated Oil Valley School regarding the ragging incident of July 18.
According to Tinsukia DSP Atul Kumar, the in-charge of Digboi police station said that the CCTV footage which was also shown to the aggrieved parents and other stakeholders did not contain any significant and material evidence leading to the act of ragging by the victim’s classmates as alleged in the FIR. “We have visited the school and the house of the alleged victim and met all the stakeholders beside examining the footage together for 5 hours for their satisfaction,” said the official who was accompanied by SDPO Margherita and Investigating officer who is handling the case.
“We could only see that the victim student was crying alone while no other friends were seen around her or communicating with her physically,” said Kumar adding, “We have also consulted psychiatrist who however said that the student has some anxiety symptoms.” The police however is connecting all possible dots to ascertain the exact nature of the incident.
Meanwhile, the guardians of the student also consulted a psychiatrist at Dibrugarh on Friday afternoon. The doctor advising for a week time observation was of the opinion that the student needed sometime to coup up naturally to regain the confidence. In case the student does not improve within a week or so, we would consider for serious treatment,” said the doctor.
The alleged incident of ragging by classmates in Oil Valley school despite robust legislations and anti-ragging act of the government has no doubt sent a serious picturesque of the prevailing atmosphere in the said privately owned educational institutions. The investigation was afoot till filling of the report.
