Dibrugarh: Dihing Welfare Society has written to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha and few other top officials regarding non-functioning of several solar lights installed over the Dibrugarh Town Protection (DTP) dyke.
It has been mentioned in the letter that several solar lights have gone kaput, thereby causing much inconvenience to people from all walks of life who used DTP for a wide variety of reasons, including rejuvenation and physical fitness. Concern has been expressed over the fact that the resultant darkness may lead to innocent people falling prey to perpetrators and anti-social elements.
Moreover, adequate lighting will also help the officials concerned keep track of the peril of soil erosion during floods. In view of such a high utility of the solar lights, it has been requested that the solar lights be repaired and sufficient lighting be ensured on the DTP Dyke.
