HAFLONG: Out of 246, 101 polling parties were moved on Tuesday and reached their respective polling station safely though there has been rain and landslides in some places. The remaining 145 polling parties left Haflong on Wednesday.
Dima Hasao is going for polls on Thursday from 7 am to 6 pm. The district administration has made all preparations for polling. Dima Hasao will have 10 all women polling stations where the officials engaged on the polling day, including police and security personnel, will all be women. Out of the 10, four polling stations have been themed as pink polling stations to be decorated in pink colour to attract women voters. As per the order, the selected pink polling stations are NK Daolagupu L.P. School, Haflong Cultural Institute Hall, Sainza Razee L.P School and Government Girls' HS School.
Apart from these four, six more all women polling stations are CHT Synod High School, Haflong Fiangpui High School, Superintendent of Sericulture Office, Haflong, Haflong Town Raji Community Hall, Haflong Government College, and District Social Welfare Office, Haflong. This is an initiative taken up by the district administration of Dima Hasao towards an attempt to boost women participation in the electoral process in the district.
Three polling stations viz. Maibang Kalibari L.P School, Haflong Town Raji Community Hall and A.E.N Office, have been set as model polling stations with an objective of attracting voters to come out and cast their votes. The Model Polling Stations have the facility of wheel chair for the convenience of the differently-abled, senior citizens and needy people. They also have rooms for children, facilities for adults, less waiting period in queues, drinking water facilities and washrooms. Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua appreciated all the polling officials for their untiring efforts and involvement in the electoral process.
