Dima Hasao DCC Nirmal Langthasa demands implementation of Article 244(A)

Haflong: Extending its solidarity towards the DHARNA on AUTONOMOUS STATE in Delhi by KAN CHAS D COM and other organizations on Wednesday, the Dima Hasao District Congress Committee strongly demanded the implementation of Article 244(A). This was disclosed by Nirmal Langthasa, President, Dima Hasao DCC in a press conference held at Rajib Bhawan, Haflong.

Langthasa stated that the Dima Hasao District Congress Committee strongly condemned the BJP Government both at centre, State and Hills Districts of Assam regarding Lok Sabha Question reply on AUTONOMOUS STATE, implementation of Article 244(A) of Indian Constitution on Tuesday, raised by M.P Sri Horensing Bey, which stated ‘There is no proposal under consideration to create any Autonomous State under article 244(A) of the Constitution’.

In the last Lok Sabha, former M.P Sri Biren Singh Engti introduced the Assam Re-organisation (Karbi Dimanchal) Bill, 2016 on August 5, 2016. The Congress in its recent 2019 Lok Sabha Election Manifesto released by Assam Pradesh Congress also clearly stated to seriously consider the AUTONOMOUS STATE implementation.

In the recent Parliamentary Election, the BJP Party of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao, along with their candidate Sri Horen Sing Bey, made the promise that if BJP candidate wins the election then BP will implement the article 244(A) in the context of the delegation of the KAAC meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 19, 2019, submitting memorandum on implementation of Article 244(A). The Delegation issued a press statement in print and electronic media that BJP will implement AUTONOMOUS STATE issue.

From the reply of Home Minister (Minister of State) G. Hishan Reddy in the Lok Sabha, dated July 16, 2019, it’s clearly seen that BJP party has misled and fooled the people of both the hills districts of Assam by promising to fulfill the long-pending issue of autonomous state if voted to power. In this regard, they demanded Horensingh Bey to reintroduce the autonomous state BILL in this session of Parliament.
