LAKHIMPUR: “The government at the Centre must make public the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gautam Adani. Persons like Nirab Modi and Lalit Modi fled from the country looting the common people. Is terming such thieves to be ‘thief’a crime? The disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as Lok Sabha MP is extremely non-democratic,”stated Bikash Upadhyay, the general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Sunday in Lakhimpur.

The AICC general secretary said so while addressing an organizational-cum-protest meeting organized by the Lakhimpur District Congress Committee (LDCC) at Rajiv Bhavan in North Lakhimpur town. The meeting was held covering the Congress workers of all the four LACs of Lakhimpur district and it was chaired by LDCC president Gagan Chandra Borah. In his lecture, the AICC general secretary made a scathing attack on BJP-led government at the Centre regarding the Rahul Gandhi's disqualification as Lok Sabha MP.

Attending the event, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) general secretary Ajay Gogoi also criticized the BJP-led governments regarding the same issue. “Congress is not afraid of the Hitler rule of the BJP. Our party will be vocal against corruption, maladministration for the betterment of the public,”Ajay Gogoi said.

Following the meeting, the Congress workers took out a protest rally in North Lakhimpur town and held a series of street meetings in support of Rahul Gandhi at Court Tiniali, public bus stand, Lakhimpur Girls’ HS School Chariali in North Lakhimpur town. APCC spokesmen Dr. Joy Prakash Das, general secretaries Sailen Sonowal, Utpal Gogoi, Bhaskar Duworah, LDCC general secretaries Gangajyoti Tayegam, Prasanta Gogoi and other Congress leaders took part in the protest rally.
