NAGAON: As part of the Dr Banikanta Kakoti Meritorious Award 2022 under Pragyan Bharati scheme sponsored by the Assam Higher Education department, Government of Assam, the district education department on Friday ceremonially inaugurated the distribution of Scooty among the meritorious students who cleared the HS final examination in the current year with 75 per cent marks and above in the Nagaon district.
At a function organized at Nagaon 'Ganapati Hero', a leading scooty dealer near Bebejia, the local MLA Rupak Sarma inaugurated the distribution programme and ceremonially distributed scooties among a few meritorious students. Sunil Bora, District Transport Officer, Nagaon, and Principal of Nowgong College (autonomous) attended the programme as guests.
In his inaugural speech, MLA Sarma claimed that in the entire State, from the Nagaon district the highest number of meritorious students would get scooties under the scheme this time. Boys will get blue-coloured scooty while the girls will get red-coloured scooty, Sarma added.
The award will be presented to boys and girls who secured 75 and above per cent marks in the last HS final examination and over 3,500 students from the district will be awarded with scooty this time under Pragyan Bharati scheme sponsored by the Higher Education department.
DOOMDOOMA: State Panchayat and Rural Development, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, General Administration, Law and Justice etc. and Guardian Minister of Tinsukia district, Ranjeet Kumar Dass distributed scooties as part of the Dr Banikanta Kakoti Meritorious Award 2022 under the Pragyan Bharati scheme to meritorious students who performed secured 75 per cent or above marks in the last Higher Secondary (HS) exam.
A total of 1,025 meritorious students were distributed scooties in the Tinsukia district. State Labour and Tea Tribes Welfare Minister and MLA of Tinsukia constituency, Sanjay Kishan, Doomdooma constituency MLA Rupesh Gowla, Digboi constituency MLA Suren Phukan, Margherita constituency MLA Bhaskar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Narsing Pawar, Zilla Parishad president Rajendra Prasad Koiri and other dignitaries were present.
The meeting started with paying of floral tribute and lighting of lamp before the portrait of Dr Banikanta Kakati. Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Narsing Pawar congratulated each student and wished them a bright future. He said the scheme would encourage other students to study well.
