KOKRAJHAR: The district administration, Kokrajhar on Thursday blocked the motorcycle rally of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) in Kokrajhar for not taking permission. As part of the series of agitation programmes started since September 28, the BPF took out a motorcycle rally in every block committee demanding holding of BTC election within October and not to extend the Governor's Rule in BTC.

The Titaguri Block BPF committee tried to start the bike rally from Iragdao community hall and around a hundred supporters of the party flocked together with party flags tied to their motorcycle. The rally was supposed to move towards Kokrajhar town through Jwhwlao Daimalu Road and the rally was just about to start at 10 am when police team prevented them before the start of rally that led scuffle between the BPF supporters and police personnel. The reason for preventing the rally was not obtaining permission, as stated by police team.

The BPF supporters shouted slogans. The Additional SP and an ADC rushed to the spot. They pacified the agitators and told them that the party did not obtain permission for taking out the bike rally. Finally, the irate BPF supporters went back home and the rally could not be held. Similar reports were also received in Alangi at National Highway and in other places.

Meanwhile, the BPF Youth Wing and Bodoland Students' Union (BSU) on Wednesday evening took out a torchlight rally and mass crying in every block committee. On Friday, the party will stage hunger strike in every block committee office.
