NAGAON: With a day-long programme, Nagaon district administration celebrated Nagaon District Day on Monday for the first time. The celebration of the day was initiated with an auspicious cultural rally from Nagaon police reserve field early in the morning which was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah. Noted Assamese film actor Jatin Bora and noted Assamese Bihu singer Krishna Moni Nath, several thousands students from various educational institutions, officials as well as employees of district administration participated in the cultural rally.

During the day, ward meetings at every municipal wards as well as gaon sabha at every gram panchayat were organized to sort out the problems as well as privileges at all concerned areas so that the ongoing government sponsored schemes of growth and development can be covered all in all aspects.

Besides, various seminars and workshops, competitions like quiz as well as cultural programme were also organized at various educational institutions across the district.

As part of celebration, a mega cultural extravaganza was also organized at Nagaon district library auditorium in the evening. During the programme, a documentary titled ‘Amar Nagaon, Amar Gaurav’ was also screened. A dozen of noted dignitaries of the district who have brought laurels to the district, were felicitated by the district administration.
