District Co-ordination Committee meet on leprosy detection held in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG: A meeting of the District Co-ordination Committee for leprosy case detection campaign (LCDC) for Dima Hasao district was held at the office of the Joint Director Health service, Haflong on Friday.

In the meeting, Joint Director Health Service Dr. Duleshwar Gogoi briefed about leprosy disease. He said it is a serious infectious disease that effects the skin, peripheral nerves etc and can cause parts of the body to fall off. He further said according to the report since 2021 not a single case of leprosy have been found in Dima Hasao district till date. He created an awareness and request all the departments to co-operate with the leprosy case detection campaign. He also informed that LCDC campaign will be conducted in three rounds. Henceforth , LCDC will be organized periodically.
