NALBARI: The district administration of Nalbari will celebrate the foundation day of the district as ‘District Day’ on August 14. Nalbari district, now known as Navadweep, was separated from the former undivided Kamrup district on August 14 in 1985 and recognized as a separate full-fledged district since then. This year’s Nalbari District Day will be celebrated with a flag hoisting ceremony at 9.30 am. The event will be held at the premises of Nalbari District Commissioner’s Office. Trees will be planted in every Gaon Panchayat, Municipal area and government and private educational institutions in the district on the day. There will be a seminar organized in Nalbari Natya Mandir on the day followed by a divergent cultural programme at 5.00 pm. As part of the District Day, lantern lighting, illumination and Rangoli drawing will be held at 6.00 pm in government and private educational institutions etc. The District Commissioner Varnali Deka urged the people of Nalbari to actively participate in every programme to make the Nalbari District Day a success on August 14 and sought their full cooperation.
