LAKHIMPUR: District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), Lakhimpur organized an exhibition in the Lakhimpur Judiciary campus located at North Lakhimpur town on Friday. The event was organized as a part of Pan India Awareness and Outreach Programme which has been continuing from October 2 to November 14 as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under the aegis of National Legal Service Authority.

The exhibition, which was held under the management of Bichitra Dutta, Secretary DLSA, Lakhimpur, was inaugurated by Burhanur Rahman, the Additional District & Session Judge of Lakhimpur. Chief Judicial Magistrate Akhtab Ul Ala, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ferhan Choudhuri, Subdivisional Judicial Magistrate Ikbal Alam Fanaji (North Lakhimpur) and Subdivisional Judicial Magistrate (Dhakuakhana) Saraswati Johri took part in the inaugural programme of the exhibition.

In the exhibition, copy of FIR of the first and last death sentence case of Lakhimpur District & Session Judge Court, including judgment copies dated August 22, 1988, conformation of the death sentence by Gauhati High Court, dismissal of special leave petition by the Supreme Court of India, death warrant, WT message from Jorhat District Jail fixing the date of hanging, WT message confirming hanging were displayed in the exhibition. Moreover, very old case records of Lakhimpur District Judiciary (Civil), very old case records of Lakhimpur District Judiciary (Criminal), very old seized rifles and pistols available in the PI office of Lakhimpur, very old fax machines, telephones and other items used in the Lakhimpur District Judiciary were also displayed in the exhibition. The achievement records of the DLSA, Lakhimpur in various fields of activities were also exhibited in the event.

On the other hand, DLSA, Lakhimpur organized a training workshop on Free Legal Assistance at Pre-Arrest, Arrest and Remand Stage covering police officers-in-charge, investigating officers, advocates and other stakeholders on Thursday as part of the same awareness campaign. DLSA, Lakhimpur will organize a Mega Camp and State Lok Adalat on November 13 and prabhat pheri and concluding programme of the campaign on November 14, informed Bichitra Dutta, the Secretary, DLSA, Lakhimpur.
