GOLAGHAT : The District Level Coordination Meeting of National Tobacco Control Programme Golaghat was held Friday at the conference hall of the DC Office in Golaghat. The meeting was presided over by District Development Commissionser of Golaghat Orpah Baglary.
In the meeting, NTPC Golaghat District Cell Nodal Officer Dr Sunita Ekka stated about the activities of the cell and the ill effects of tobacco consuming through power point presentation. She said that both smoking and non smoking tobaccos contain high toxic contents and chemicals which can cause Cancer.
Dr Ekka expressed her worries regarding increasing number of tobacco consumers among the young generation.
The Secretary of District Legal Services Authority Golaghat Narayan Kuri in the meeting stated that awareness campaign is the only way to prevent people from consuming tobaccos.
Special awareness drive should be conducted in educational institutions and treatment and counseling should be provided to tobacco addicted people, added Kuri.
ADCs Pallavi Gogoi and Kuldeep Hazarika, Inspector of Schools Dr Sameeran Bora, Medical Officer Dr Ranjit Hazarika, DSP Madhurjya Baruah and District Agriculture Officer Nobin Bora along with several other officials from district administration and health department were present in the meeting.
