HAILAKANDI: A District Level Handloom Expo – Exhibition-cum-sale is going on at the Indoor Stadium of District Level Sports Association.
The five-day exhibition was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner, Ranajeet Kumar Laskar here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Laskar said the exhibition would enable the weavers from SHGs and primary weaving cooperative societies to showcase their creativity and to sell their products. Laskar also said the expo would facilitate the buyers to purchase genuine handloom products from different parts of the State all under one roof. He further said that the expo would not only assist in marketing of handloom products but also serve as a window for generating awareness among the buyers about the latest designs and varieties of fabrics produced in the handloom sector.
Besides Laskar, General Manager, DICC, Superintendent, Handloom & Textiles, representative of Hailakandi MLA, Deputy Handloom Officer and Demonstrator from Sericulture department were also present on the occasion.
Altogether 15 stalls have been put up by SHGs, Primary Weaving Cooperative Societies and Weavers' Extension Service Units of the district.
