LAKHIMPUR: A district level quiz contest was held in North Lakhimpur on Monday as a part of the 65th celebration of Rongali Bihu by Lakhimpur Kendriya Rongali Bihu Sanmilan which has been underway at North Lakhimpur Boys’ Government HS School playground since Sunday. The quiz contest was organized on folk culture and other subjects, by Literary Sub-Committee in view of the intellectual enhancement of the students. It was held under the management of Literary Sub-Committee president Nripen Phukan and other members of the committee. The quiz contest was inaugurated by Ashabur Rahman, a lawyer at Gauhati High Court. Journalist Ranjit Kakati, who is also a popular quizmaster, took part in the competition as quizmaster. Aman Baruah, a teacher at Brook Field School of North Lakhimpur, also attended the competition as quizmaster.
A total of 14 teams of the students from different places of the district participated in the competition wherein Bishnudev Sarmah, Partha Pratim Baruah, Monjit Saikia, Debaneel Koushik Sarmah grabbed the first prize. On the other hand, Pranabjyoti Gogoi, Tilak Gogoi, Mahananda Saikia bagged the second prize while Satyajit Borah, Niru Borah, Rahul Gogoi, Drishti Nandan Das secured the third prize. It was followed by a story-telling competition among the children, wherein Pragyana Saikia, Helen Das, Meghali Saikia secured first, second and third prizes respectively. Judges’ special prize was secured by Irin Rahman Baruah. Meanwhile, the organizing committee of the festival has declared the results of the major competitions held in the event till day.
