TEZPUR: In view of reports of some groups of persons, including various institutions/ organizations/ NGOs forcefully collecting donations from business establishments, passengers and vehicle drivers in various parts of the district, mainly on National Highways and other thoroughfares by stopping running vehicles, which may lead to a serious breach of peace and disturb the normal life of the citizens, the District Magistrate of Sonitpur, Manvendra Pratap Singh has issued certain restrictions U/S 144 of the Cr PC. As per the order, forceful collection of money in the form of donations/ subscriptions from any vehicle, bike riders or pedestrians, household, shop, office, business establishment and industries has been hereby banned with immediate effect. Moreover, forceful stopping of vehicle for the purpose of collection of donation is also banned. Any violation of this order will invite penal action as per law. The order will come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
