District Planning Committee meeting held in Sonitpur

Tezpur: The first meeting of the District Planning Committee for the year 2019-20 was held on Wednesday at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The meeting, which was chaired by the chairperson of Sonitpur Zilla Parishad, Dolly Surin, was attended by Chief Executive Officer, Sonitpur Zilla Parishad, Diganta Baishya, all Zilla Parishad members and heads of various government departments such as Health, Social Welfare, Irrigation, APDCL, Agriculture, Fisheries, PHE, DICC, among others.

Chief Executive Officer of Sonitpur Zilla Parishad, Diganta Baishya delivered the welcome address and explained the objectives of the meeting. Chairing the meeting, the ZPC chairperson asked the GM, DICC to improve the number of sanctions under SVAYEM and PMEGP in the district and asked the Lead District Manager Chandrashekhar Sarma to take up the matter with bank authorities. Addressing the heads of various government departments, the chairperson requested them to share prior information about all departmental schemes being implemented in the district with panchayat representatives along with the action plan for the year at the beginning of each financial year. She also said that all ZPC members should be tagged in all DLCs of various line departments to oversee and monitor the progress of works being implemented.

Progress of works under various schemes of departments was briefly reviewed and issues related to providing KCC to existing fisheries owners, equal distribution of schemes in various gaon panchayats, completion of construction of toilets, roads, strengthening of electricity poles, the constitution of Anganwadi committees, including ward members, were discussed in the meeting.
