KOKRAJHAR, BONGAIGAON: The District Task Force (DTF) meeting on Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) or Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and other Vector- Borne Diseases (VBD) was held in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner's office on Friday under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Chirang,

The meeting, chaired by Narendra Kumar Shah, Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, was conducted to ensure close coordination with various departments for a better management of AES/JE and diseases in the district.

Before the discussion, a power-point presentation was presented by the Chirang District Health Society on the VBDs covered by the NVBDCP, Chirang and its preventive measures

The meeting then discussed various points for strengthening of surveillance activities and strategies for prevention and control of JE, malaria and dengue in the district.

Stressing the importance of taking necessary steps to control all these diseases, the Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah asked the health officials to arrange JE vaccine from their source immediately, to carry out proper survey to find out malaria and dengue cases and to identify the high risk areas and age-group people in order to give them medical facilities. He also emphasized maintaining inter-sectoral coordination and timely reporting and timely intervention for controlling and preventing all these diseases in the district.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (health) and in-charge Subdivisional Officer, Bijni Dibakar Nath, Dr. Ratul Chandra Bordoloi, Joint Director, other senior health officials of district health services and district heads of departments like Public Health Engineering, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, Education and officials of Municipal Boards were also present in the meeting.
