‘Diversity a fact of life, inclusion a choice’: Dr Protim Sharma

SIVASAGAR: Speaking in a public talk on the theme ‘Diversity, Inclusion and Mutual Respect’ under C 20 (Civil 20) - which is one of the Official Engagement Groups of G 20, Dr Protim Sharma, Associate Professor of Dikhowmukh College and the appointed speaker, said that there cannot be one-size-fit-all model for handling all challenges. “While diversity is a fact of life, inclusion is a choice we must consciously make, which will lead to mutual respect for one another,” he said.

The C 20 event was jointly organized by Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture and the Sivasagar branch of Vivekananda Kendra in association with the Departments of Higher Education and Secondary Education, Govt. of Assam, on Saturday at Sibsagar Girls' College auditorium.

The inaugural speech was delivered by Aditya Vikram Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar, while Dr Rita Borkotoky, Principal of Sibsagar Girls’ College and Dr Prakash Kotoky, Vibhag Sanchalak of Jorhat-Sivasagar Vibhag of Vivekananda Kendra lit the ceremonial lamp. The special programme was attended by more than 200 students and teachers from various schools and colleges of the Sivasagar district.
