Doctor on duty of Demow Model Hospital assaulted, 2 held

DEMOW: An on duty doctor of Demow Model Hospital was allegedly physically assault by two youths on Monday night in Demow Model Hospital. The two youths have been identified as Deben Tanti, an inhabitant of Haru Deroi near Demow, and Ganesh Ghasi, an inhabitant of Athabari Hiloidari Gaon near Demow.

According to sources, both the youths came to Demow Model Hospital on Monday night for treatment of a relative who was injured. The health workers were dressing up the hand of the injured person while the health workers were stitching the injured portion of the hand. The two youths allegedly quarreled with Dr. S J Taye, Gynecologist of Demow Model Hospital who was on duty at that time. Then they physically assaulted Dr. Taye. The youths tried to flee after assaulting the doctor but people present caught them and handed them over to Demow Police on Monday night.

Taye lodged an FIR in Demow Police Station, said a police source.
