DEMOW: After the Indian Medical Association (IMA) called for strike on December 11, the Indian Medical Association Assam State Branch extended its support to the strike in protest against the Centre's move allowing Ayurvedic practitioners to perform surgery. In Demow also the doctors staged strike on Friday.
The strike started from 6 am and continued till 6 pm. Due to the strike there was no routine OPD and only emergency services and COVID treatment were provided. On the other hand, IMA, Sivasagar branch also staged strike in Sivasagar on Friday. They strongly opposed the Centre's move allowing the Ayurvedic practitioners to perform surgeries.
