DOOMDOOMA: Doomdooma MLA and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) general secretary Durga Bhumij on Saturday categorically denied the news published in a section of press that he would join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhavan here on Saturday afternoon, Bhumij said that he was a firm believer in the Congress ideology and under no circumstance he would budge from it. Condemning the statement of Duliajan MLA Teras Gowala published in a section of press recently that many Congress leaders, including Durga Bhumij, would join the BJP, Bhumij said that he was not a spineless person to join a party like BJP that had betrayed the people of the State on all fronts.
"It is a conspiracy of the BJP to demoralize the Congress workers and the supporters at the grassroots level," he added.
The Congress legislator urged his party workers as well as the general public not to believe in the false propaganda of the BJP. He said that the Congress would form the government in the State after 2021 election. When asked if he wanted change in the APCC leadership, Bhumij said that he would accept the decision of the party high command in this regard.
