Doomdooma Police seized gutka worth Rs10-15 lakh

TINSUKIA: The Doomdooma Police achieved a breakthrough after it seized a huge cache of illegal gutka amounting to Rs 10-15 lakhs stored illegally at the residence of one Santosh Shah of Ward no1 Sankardev Nagar, Doomdooma on Saturday.

Based on specific, information police initially raided the residence of Shah, a retail trader of gutka on AT Road and recovered pan masala and zarda that Shah claimed to be legal but police grew suspicious and searched his entire house. During the search operation, the police team led by the officer-in-charge Doomdooma Dibyajyoti Dutta recovered a huge quantity of gutka stored illegally in several rooms, the market value of which would be around Rs 10-15 lakhs. Shah admitted that he stored the item to fetch a good profit in anticipation of full lockdown.
