Doomdooma Sakha Lekhika Samaroh Samity celebrates Assamese month ‘Sawon’

DOOMDOOMA: Doomdooma Sakha Lekhika Samaroh Samity (DSLSS) celebrated the Assamese month of ‘Sawon’ (mid-July to mid-August) with songs and poetry in its monthly meeting held on Thursday with president Indu Dutta Ujir in the chair.

The meeting which was anchored by secretary Sangeeta Deka Barua became lively with participation of the members. Vice-president Mira Saikia read out some literary pieces on the subject. Former president Kiranmoy Hazarika Baruah impressed everyone with some memorable experiences of her trip to Europe and she read a poem she wrote. Rumi Kalita Gogoi, Lakhim Neog and Banti Sonwal also recited their self-composed poems. On the other hand, Sangeeta Chaudhury, Pranalisha Barkakati, Rashmi Gogoi and Aparna Senapati presented some heart-touching songs on the theme of Sawon month. Vice-president Mala Barua Kakati mentioned some of her experiences and lessons learned from everyday life.

The meeting resolved to hold one meeting exclusively on poetry towards the end of September and it was further resolved to invite the poets of seven branches under the jurisdiction of Tinsukia Zila Lekhika Samaroh Samity.
