Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Xanhati Award for Karbi Folk Artiste Lungse Timung

GOLAGHAT: The prestigious ‘Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Xanhati Award’ will be given to noted Karbi artiste and litterateur Lungse Timung for the year 2019 on the occasion of Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s eight death anniversary on November 5 in Golaghat.

In a press statement, president and secretary of Golaghat AASU, Niranjal Sonowal and Prince Doley, and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Smriti Raksha Samiti president Dwipen Dutta and secretary Rohit Gogoi said that the award would be given away by the Bhupen Hazarika Smriti Rakshya Samiti and All Golaghat District Students’ Union. Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s death anniversary will be observed with a day-long programme on the particular date in the premises of the AASU office building. This award has been given away every year since 2013 on Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s death anniversary.

For the year 2019, the selection committee for Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Xanhati Award chose noted Karbi folk artiste and litterateur Lungse Timung for his noble contribution to folk culture and the field of literature. Lungse Timung will be awarded the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Xanhati Award on November 5.
