Dr Haridutta Sarmah Memorial Lecture organized in Nalbari College

GUWAHATI: Prof. Sudeshna Bhattacharjya, Dept.of Sanskrit, Gauhati University delivered two lectures on 'Indian Literature: Its Reflections' as a part of the Dr. Haridutta Sarmah Memorial Lecture Series recently. The lecture series was organized in virtual mode by Deptt. of English, Nalbari College in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell and inaugurated by Dr. Kamal Nayan Patowary, the principal of the college.

In her speech, Prof Bhattacharjya deliberated on the distinctiveness of Indian Literature and discussed its difference from Western Literature with special reference to the prescribed texts in English honours CBCS course. She threw light on the core features of dharma in the Mahabharata elucidating the significance of the theme of 'Yataha Dharma Tataha Jaya' in Indian culture.

The principal in his inaugural speech, stated that Dr. Haridutta Sarmah was his teacher in the Nalbari College and spoke about how students were enthralled by his classes. Prof. Bhabendranath Bhattacharyya, President of GB, Nalbari College and former professor of the Dept. of English spoke on his close association with Dr. Haridutta Sarma, stated a press release.
