SILCHAR: Padma Shri Dr Ravi Kannan was all praise for the benevolent gesture of Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul who came forward to donate one 500 KV transformer and a Bolero for Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (CCHRC) from the fund available from Chief Minister's untied fund. In fact, Dilip Paul who won the election of 2016 with record votes has been making contributions in cash and kind for various development projects in his constituency, earning kudos from people in general. The handing over ceremony of transformer and the vehicle took place at a simple function graced by the MLA, Dr Ravi Kannan, director, CCHRC, and members of the Governing Body just in front of the administrative building witnessed by the attending patients.
Dr Ravi Kannan accepting the gifts from the MLA, said, 'Dilip Kumar Paul is a man of deeds and not words, quite different and a popular face in the valley. He has been helping CCHRC in various ways. His today's benevolence adds yet another move towards making the services to patients better.' MLA Dilip Paul assured he would continue to extend his support to the people's dream project which has become a well appreciated Cancer Hospital in northeast.
CCHRC now in its significant transitional phase has been striving hard for modernisation and standardised services to patients. With support from TATA Trust, a multi complex building is under construction that will house nuclear medicine facility, installation of a Linear machine , OPD wing, bunker to accommodate linear accelerator as well as Cobalt machine. Members of Governing Body in general hoped that the noble gesture of Dilip Kumar Paul will be an example and inspiration before other MLAs and MPs of Barak Valley.
