DIBRUGARH: The Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation has been working to provide clean drinking water in Dibrugarh. So far, they have donated many drinking water projects in the city for the people. The Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation inaugurated a drinking water project and Solar Lamp under green energy initiative at Rameshwar Sarma Phukan Sankardev Vidya Niketan, Dibrugarh on Tuesday. Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan and Dr Bharati Dutta, pradhan acharaya of the school Alpana Borborah Sarma were present during the inauguration programme.

“Our foundation has been contributing towards the development of students and infrastructure to support the growth of education in the state of Assam, more particularly in Dibrugarh. We also support and enable female students in the higher education stage where many girls tend to drop out of our education system,” said Jyoti Prasad Kanoi, trustee of the foundation. He further said, “Safe drinking water is a fundamental necessity. The establishment of RO filtered and cool drinking water facilities across many schools, colleges and children parks fulfils an urgent need to have safe, clean and cool drinking water available at all times.”

While speaking at the programme, Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan praised the initiative taken by the Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation in providing clean and safe drinking water to Dibrugarh.

“The Kanoi family has contributed a lot towards the development of Dibrugarh. In the education sector, the family has contributed immensely which cannot be forgotton. The Kanoi family laid the foundation of the college that formed the bedrock of higher education in Dibrugarh. The people of Dibrugarh are very much indebted to their contribution to make the city an education hub,” Phukan said.
