DOOMDOOMA: Following State Government’s declaration of ban on the sale of gomosas, mekhela chadars and arnais produced outside the State, the Sadiya sub-division administration lunched a drive against sale of such products in Sadiya sub-division of Tinsukia district.

Accordingly, as per order of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) cum Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) in-charge Anupam Deka, Superintendent of Handloom and Textiles Kabin Chandra Nath, Circle Inspector Dilip Deka, Trainer Sohrab Ali under the leadership of Executive Magistrate Jyoti Pegu conducted raids on garment traders of Chunpura, Santipur and Chapakhowa bazars from March 2 and warned them not to sell machine-made gamosas, mekhela-chadars and arnai produced outside the State and made a special appeal to sell hand-woven items to encourage the local artisans.
