Drive to ensure road safety regulations in Haflong

HAFLONG: In order to ensure zero accidents on the last day of this year, a massive drive was being carried out by the police along with the transport and excise department officials. Strict enforcement drive was taken out throughout the State including the Dima Hasao district.

As per the data received, 501 motor vehicle violation cases have been reported from December 1 to December 29 with 3 driving license suspensions, 124 helmet cases in Dima Hasao. Since December 25, 1 accident was recorded in this district with no fatality and one injury till date.

As a part of the initiative, various checkpoints have been placed at strategic locations in district headquarter to keep a check on drunken driving, overspeeding of vehicles and other violations of traffic rules.

Strict enforcement drive has been taken out against two-wheeler driving without a helmet by both rider and pillion rider, not wearing of seat belts, carrying of excess passengers, rash driving and loud music.
