Drug peddlers arrested, drugs seized by Goalpara Police

GOALPARA: In continuation of its operations against drug peddlers and anti-social elements, the Goalpara Police on Saturday arrested two people and recovered from their possession prohibited drugs, fake gold bar and cash. The arrested duo has been identified as Rakibul Islam and Azmir Hussain of village No. 2, Pubergaon, Mankachar, South Salmara district.

"On the basis of specific input, today at about 11.00 AM Goalpara police, under the supervision of headquarter DSP, recovered drugs and other items from New Goalpara, Bihufield," informed Mrinal Deka, ASP, Goalpara.

Deka further added, "Police recovered suspected heroin 2.20 gm, Yaba tablet 192 pieces (17 gm), fake gold bar - 35.70 gm, 1 Bajaj Discover bike without number plate and two mobile handsets, besides some other incriminating articles." Goalpara district police, in a record crackdown on bike lifters, have apprehended so far 28 accused and recovered 106 bikes from Goalpara and other neighbouring districts.
