Drugs claim one; three youths arrested at Nagaon

NAGAON: Nagaon police arrested three youths in connection with the mysterious death of youth last night. Sources claimed that the body of one Ariyan Laskar was found near Nagaon powerhouse early morning on Friday last. Family members of Ariyan Laskar lodged an FIR against three youths along with whom Ariyan Laskar took drugs on Wednesday night, and since he went missing after he came out for purchasing a motorcycle from a bike showroom in the town.

Significantly, during the police interrogation, the arrested youths admitted that they took excessive drugs with Ariyan Laskar. They stated during the interrogation that when Ariyan breathed his last due to overdose, they abandoned him near Nagaon Powerhouse Tiniali and fled away from the scene, the sources added further.

Meanwhile, the family members of Ariyan Laskar claimed that he was killed with a pre-planned plot by those trio and sought neutral justice in this regard. Besides, following the recovery of Ariyan's body, family members as well as other neighbours of his native locality went on a rampage and gheraoed Nagaon Police station last night and urged the Nagaon district police administration to ensure strict measures against the current drugs menace across the small town, sources said further.

It is, however, alleged that the number of drug-related crimes has increased across the small town in the last couple of months due to the lack of adequate measures as well as negligence of police administration.
